Frequently Asked Questions How do I join? To join the club, you need to fill in a membership form and present it to the on-site van, together with your dog's vaccination certificate and membership fee. Forms are available at the van. Please note that for the wellbeing of the other dogs in the club, you will not be able to enrol without first presenting your dog's vaccination certificate. For further information, please see our New Members page. How much does membership cost? Membership is paid annually; we do not charge on a 'per session' basis. Basic membership costs $70 per year. For further details, please see our Membership Fees page. Where and when does training take place? Puppy and Obedience training takes place most Sunday mornings at Carine Open Space. For further details, please see our Location and Times pages. What training techniques do you use? We start training from puppy class using positive re-enforcement. This is the process of rewarding the puppy or dog when they do what you require with food or a favourite toy. In some cases this may be achieved by breaking down the task you require into small parts and rewarding each time they get it right, this way you can gradually build up to the target. We don't use discipline or corrective training in any of our classes such as check/choker chains, so please don't bring these down as you will be asked to remove them and use a standard collar. Also we would prefer that you don't use extendable leads as these can injure dogs. Do you train in hot weather? No - once the temperature rises above 35 degrees there is no training. This includes Obedience, Rally O, Dances with Dogs and Agility.
